Flour Milling Business
The flour milling business pursues possibilities, strengthens corporate character through production and distribution.

The Chiba Mill
Wheat, the basic ingredient for
every day good taste, in pursuit of
improving quality characteristics
and secondary processing,
promoting new challenges with
wheat flour.
Wheat is thought to be the first food crop
raised by humans. In Japan the per capita
consumption of wheat per year averages 32kg,
of which bread comprises just over 40%,
noodles over 30%, snacks just over 10%, and
household and other uses just over 10%, and
there are even greater possibilities with wheat
flour. Since being founded in 1896 as Japan's
first flour milling company, NIPPN has been
particularly oriented to wheat flour. Beginning
with improving quality and reliability in
supplying wheat flour, NIPPN is forging ahead
aggressively to respond to a diverse food
culture by developing and commercializing
bread, cake, snacks, pasta, tempura, etc.
Consumer needs are answered by providing the
type of flour most suited for each user.

Automated Packing Line
Large-scale coastal mills
equipped with the latest facilities,
distributed in major cities
nationwide. Building the Largest
Mill in Japan in 2006.
In 1987, NIPPN's Chiba Mill introduced to
its mill a state of the art computer system
developed specifically for milling. In 1994,
with the completion of a high-tech automated
milling system and a grain silo with a fully
automated delivery system, the biggest coastal
mill was born. In 1996, the Fukuoka Mill
was reborn as the largest and most advanced
coastal mill in western Japan. Boasting an
ideal location on Hakata Bay and a highly
efficient grain silo, the Fukuoka Mill represents
the starting point for a 21st century model. In
2000, the Yokohama, Chiba and Kobe-Konan
Mills achieved production systems enabling
them to have milling capacity of over 80%.
In November 2003, NIPPN decided to further
strengthen the facilities at the Chiba Mill. With the completion of a large-scale
milling line in April 2006, the Chiba Mill made a fresh start as one of the largest
coastal mill in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

The Yokohama Mill
Working toward a 21st century
production and distribution
model, entailing more effective
and revitalized corporate activities
as well as more competitive
costs.
As NIPPN forges ahead in the 21st century,
one important “theme” is the rationalization of
its distribution system to facilitate quicker and
more reliable delivery of its factory produced
goods. The Ina Distribution Center located
in Saitama Prefecture, plays a critical role in
acting as a distribution facility that can respond
to the growth in retail sales of flour and
processed foods as well as an increased number
of product items. Similarly, the Chiwaka
Warehouse located near the Yokohama Mill, is
ideally positioned to maximize the distribution
of products. Furthermore, reconstruction of
production and distribution systems, as well as
construction and reinforcement work on multilayered
automated warehouses in major mills
and plants are well under way. The Yokohama
Distribution Center finished in March 2004,
exemplifies how NIPPN is moving ahead
to establish delivery centers in major areas,
and adopt the latest distribution information
systems. By establishing a finely-tuned
distribution system, NIPPN hopes to further
strengthen its corporate constitution.
